Primarily drawing on techniques from Positive Behaviour support and Motivational Interviewing, this
course will give you the skills to help deepen conversations with young people. You’ll learn how to
engage with a young person to help them feel comfortable talking. We’ll explore skills such
using affirmations and reflections to encourage the young person to bring their thoughts to the
surface and express them. We will also look at how we can respond and summarise their words in a
way that will help the child to feel truly listened to.
